Father seeks standard co-parenting time because even his minimal time was often spitefully denied by the mother.  After a 6 day the father, seeking an equal time Parenting Plan, was actually awarded Primary residential custody with the mother being limited to weekends during the school year and the child attending school in the father’s school zone.

Mr. Reed representing a hard-working Father that sought equal co-parenting time, despite the fact the father had been working demanding 70 hour weeks in sale while the mother was staying home with kids.  After multi-day trial Mr. Reed was successfully able to demonstrate to the Court that the mother had engaged in a pattern of behavior that undermined the relationship between the father and the children.  The Court awarded the father equal time even though the mother had been the undisputed primary caregiver during the marriage.

Child protected from abusive stepfather

12-year-old disclosed to his father that he no longer wanted to visit with his mother and demanded to stay at his father’s house way more than the father’s schedule on the Permanent Parenting Plan that was currently in place.  After a lot of discussion, the child showed his father severe bruising and scars from being beaten with a belt.  A huge red flag was present because the boy said his stepdad would enact this “discipline” with his mother was not home.  Mr. Reed filed a Petition with a Juvenile Court seeking relief.  Father was awarded Primary custody. Mother’s custody was restricted and a restraining Order was put in place keeping the child from ever having to see stepdad again.

Kids protected from being forced to travel with cheating Husband/Father

In a highly contested divorce case, the Judge made a preliminary ruling that two boys, a pre-teen and a teenager, might have to travel out of town for the father to exercise some co-parenting time.  They did not want to go out of town, but Father claimed he had to travel out of state to a VA hospital for medical treatment, despite VA treatment being available in Knoxville. After coordinating with a private investigator, Mr. Reed was able to prove that the father was actually traveling out of state to meet up with a girlfriend.  In the Divorce trial the mother was awarded Primary Residential Parent status and the father received only minimal co-parenting time.

Business Litigation

Breach of Contract and termination of a business partnership agreement.

Client was wronged by business partner.  Filed suit in Sevier County Circuit Court for termination of the business partnership agreement, breach of contract, and seeking to liquidate the business owned real estate. Prevailed and successfully persuaded the Court to order the sale and liquidation of all assets including real estate resulting in significant cash recovery for the client and the defendant being ordered by the Court to vacate the real estate.

Insurance Coverage

Payment recovered after fire loss.

Errors and Omissions claim for rental property.  Insurance company sent conditional coverage letter to property owner at the physical property address, despite the fact that the owner of the rental property resided in another state.  Owner and policy holder had no knowledge that the insurance company wanted repairs completed or the carrier would cancel coverage.  Rental property burned resulting in a total loss. Insurance company denied coverage even though the property owner was not informed of the policy cancellation until after the fire.  Settlement reached against the issuing insurance Agent based on the fact that bound coverage with the wrong address for the policy holder. Nearly ½ a million recovered for the client.
